些的朋友來說，印象最深的大概莫過於那首存在眾多不同語言翻唱版的Y-M-C-A以及那
雙手高高舉過頭頂（Y）、雙手彎曲置於雙肩（M）、雙手向右
（C）、雙手面前交叉（A）的標志性集體舞蹈動作。當年這首歌曲在DISCO的流行
程度至今讓人難以忘懷，全場上下整齊一致的動作，將氛圍急速推升至最HIGH點~~~

但是你知道YMCA的真正含義是什麼嗎？

所謂YMCA，其實是Young Men`s Christian Association 的英文簡寫，中文名「基督教青年會」；它是一個遍布全世界的基督教青年組織，發源於英國倫敦，是由一位英國基督徒青年僑治威廉(George Williams)於公元1844年所立的。

喬治威廉於公元1821年10月11日出生在英國西南半島一個典型農村Somerset的農家之中，他是家中排行第八的幺子，從小就幫忙兄長們務農。當喬治年齡漸長，因有識於自己的體格、性情皆不適於農業，乃與其兄商量，欲往都市謀生。喬治威廉16歲那年，便隻身前往Brigewater市，在一賣市商的店中開始其學徒生涯。

在家鄉喬治原為基督教聖公會的會友，到了倫敦後卻參加該市的公理會，並在教會中擔任主日學教員的事奉。當時美國有一名佈道家(Charles G. Finney)，是一位福音實行家，他主張基督徒必須要信仰與生活合一，培養高尚的道德生活，並不受教派的拘束，他的著作暢銷歐美，對幫喬治威廉信仰上的成長，及日後創辦YMCA的動機有深遠的影響。

1841年，喬治威廉擔任學徒期滿後，便前往倫敦聖保羅大教堂附近的一家大布店Hitchcock and Rogers服務。當時店中和喬治威廉同樣年輕的雇員共有一百四十名，而倫敦市內則有十五萬名類似的人。在高度工業化的英國，農村青年大量湧向都市謀生，在長達十三至十四的鍾頭的工作時間下，大部的年輕勞工得不到充分的休息與正常的娛樂生活，再加上工商業競爭激烈的壓力及常常加班的勞累，許多人染上了酗酒的惡習，導玫生活放縱與墮落。

喬治威廉在這種工成環境中，幸有幾位很好的屬靈同伴，大家聚集讀經或分享查理士芬尼的著作，並每日一起禱告，常達兩年之久，並圖改善全體雇員的道德生活。他們的熱心不久竟感動了布行的老闆，不但使他悔改信主，還經常支助經費及參加他們的聚會。此後，他們的「青年宣道社」(Young Men』s Missionary Society)、查經班及「青年生活改良社」(Young Men』s Improvement Society)陸續成立，這種幫助年輕勞工重建信仰與提高道德水準的風氣，逐漸影片到鄰近的工廠與商店，並促進日後YMCA組織的成立。

1844年6月6日，包括喬治威廉在內的十二位基督徒青年，在倫敦正式成立基督教青年會(YMCA)。由於這十二位人發起分屬於四個不同的教派(英國聖公會、衛理公會、公理會、浸信會)，因此基督教青年會自始即為一個超教派的組織。自YMCA成立後，由於其目標正確、聚會吸引人而使會員不斷增加，在借用咖啡館聚會場地不敷使用，遷至Radley』s Hotel的酒吧聚會。並在舉辦演講及佈道會時，開放給非基督徒參加，俾使更多人能夠加入YMCA。

不久，英國各地不同的行業皆陸續成立YMCA，而倫敦YMCA於1845年開始聘請T. H. Tarlton為首任幹事，使YMCA正式進入專業服化的層次。

1851年，世界萬國博覽會在英國倫敦舉行，這些士氣高昂的YMCA領袖們趁機將基督教青年會組織介紹給各國的觀光客。許多人因此對YMCA運動深感興趣，也導致日後YMCA運動在世界各國迅速的擴展。同年11月25日，英屬加拿大Montreal City首先成立YMCA，接著12月29日美國波士頓亦即成立其YMCA。

四年後(1855年)，世界萬國博覽會易地於法國巴黎舉行，而英國及美歐各國YMCA領袖也再度借機於巴黎集會。這些來自八個國家中36個不同YMCA的代表，於同年8月22日召開首次基督教青年會世界大會，在99位代表的協議下，決定正式組織「基督教青年會世界協會」(The World Alliance of YMCAs)，並在瑞士日內瓦為永久會址，做為全世界YMCA的總樞。同時會中通過「巴黎本旨」(The Paris Basis)：「基督教青年會之旨趣，在聯合同道青年，即凡願奉耶穌基督為上帝與救主，心信躬行為其門徒，更願推廣天國於青年之間者。」成為各國YMCA共同的宗旨與運動的方針。從此以後，世界各國YMCA代表們，每四年必聚集召開世界大會。

十九世紀末，美國城市青年會和學校青年會十分發達，但美國青年會的領袖們並不以此為己足，在響應十九世紀基督教世界宣教的同時，曾發起國外YMCA拓展運動，以協助工業後進國家成立基督教青年會。「北美基督教青年會協會」(The International Committee of YMCAs of the United States and Canada)(以下簡稱北美協會)，就是推動這個運動的領導機關，是1879年由美國和加拿大兩國青年會聯合組成的，對日後扶植我國基督教青年會的成立與發展貢獻尤大。

最近看了尼古拉斯。凱奇主演的《戰爭之王》，片頭就是用的這首歌，別有一番滋味。

說道「水牛春田／Buffalo SPringfield」就不得不說到一個大名鼎鼎的人物：Neil Young，出生於1945年11月12日的加拿大多倫多。他最早的戰斗歷史要追溯到五十年代中期的Squires，一支半職業化的樂隊。1963年他隨Squires樂隊一起出現在加拿大民謠樂壇而開始了他的演唱生涯。1964年，他定居紐約，加入Mynah Birds樂隊。不久後，因對Mynah Birds成績感到不滿，他和樂隊貝司手Bruce Palmer共同前往洛杉磯尋求發展。在洛杉磯，他倆和Stephen Stills成立了被稱為當時美國最好的Buffalo Springfield樂隊。並取得成功。但樂隊的成功導致了一系列危機開始讓Neil Young感到厭煩，他於1968年4月退出樂隊。
