96年的影片中《Seream》是承襲了驚粟片的路子走下來的。雖然在情節構思上，《Seream》仍然未擺脫變態殺手連環殺人的舊體制。但這已成為驚粟片的一大特色，無可厚非。它一如心理的恐怖片一樣，將觀眾自始至終放置於一個撲朔迷離的懸念之中，甚至別出心裁，在影片中運用了演員本身總結的恐怖片情節規則來增加恐怖驚險的氣氛。當大學生們圍坐在一起看恐怖電影，而兇手真的就如同他們所說的一樣在殺人時，觀眾的緊張心理立刻就被勾引起來的。

如果只是這樣，《Seream》只能說是部可以一看的娛樂片，但實際上它所包含的內容深層含義是較廣的。它所起到的作用已不是一般的恐怖片那種讓人緊張，追求一種感官刺激那麼簡單。除此之外，它帶有對現代社會犯罪心理以及對人性的一種探索性質。犯罪業已成為西方社會機體上的一大毒瘤，而近年來的變態殺人狂又特別多，生活使人精神錯亂，從而導致犯罪。就如同影片中所示，打開電視，新聞全部是報道各類兇殺案的。這種對社會現實的揭露與批判還是表層的意義。影片挖掘下去，對犯罪的原因從人性的角度予以重新認識。

對於犯罪來說，經常用的話語是它的動機如何。罪犯為什麼去殺人， 總有一定的目的， 但這部影片無疑令觀眾大吃一驚。兩個兇手，其中之一有一個勉強的理由，另一個卻根本就是無動機。作為大學生，身受的教育不能說不夠，但他們僅僅只是模仿恐怖電影的手法，為了追求一種刺激與新奇，而毫無目的地殺人。他們設計了精巧細致的圈套，讓人無懈可擊；他們用智能加上兇殘的暴力，把殺人作為一種娛樂；他們的精神扭曲變態，甚至不惜自殘。這一切，都是讓觀眾膽顫心驚而又發人深思的。

本片是「鬼玩人」系列的第三部曲，是美國導演山姆雷米的低成本電影，他絕未料想這三片小成本作品，竟讓他受到青少年廣泛的喜愛，甚至因續集「Evil Dead 2（鬼玩人）」紅遍歐洲及東南亞，並被影評視為80年代恐怖片的最經典！而後來被評選為20世紀十大最恐布電影之一的「鬼玩人」，更讓當時許多人在看完後，從此不敢單獨在半夜走進森林……

第三部《人玩鬼》拍於1993年，故事緊接上一部，男主角被死亡之書帶到了中世紀的英格蘭，利用現代武器（其實就是一把霰彈槍和裝在手臂上的電鋸）打敗了關在井裡的惡鬼，又把亞瑟王踩在腳下，被「土人」們視為英雄。皇家大法師以取回死亡之書為條件，答應幫助他回去。但是這位猥瑣的英雄自以為是，念錯了咒語解開了惡魔的封印，釋放出了邪靈的軍隊（就是那幫骷髏兵）。一開始，自私的男主角不願幫助亞瑟王對抗邪靈，只顧自己跑路，還把美麗的侍女給辦了，不負責任之極。不過最後在侍女的點化下總算迷途知返，利用化學知識（就是做火葯啦，俺很奇怪這廝居然在車廂里放一本《化學大全》，真乃神人也）帶領大家一起戰斗，並在野蠻人的幫助下（估計就是「亞瑟王」里邊的松蘭人）打敗了邪靈。
鬼玩人三部曲被《看電影》推薦為必藏恐怖片，導演是蜘蛛俠的導演山姆·雷米。不過大家也別抱太高期望值，片中的特技在當年已經顯得落後（畢竟是小成本製作）。第一二部還可以一看，恐怖和搞笑都比較有張力，第三部相對比較怪異，恐怖的風格基本被搞笑完全取代，全片都沒什麼讓人毛骨悚然的鏡頭，結尾更是突兀，估計是還想拍續集吧，如果要拍可能還值得期待，山姆·雷米現在可是今非惜比了，怎麼也得是上億的大製作吧。
