美国是新兴的资产阶级国家,他的电视作品中也有平民主义的倾向,反映社会中小人物的命运,最大程度的贴近生活。同时,个人英雄主义更是美剧中的一大特色,从早期的电影西部片,惩恶扬善;到之后的警匪片,悬疑片,一切都好像中国戏剧一样有特定的程式。就算是反面人物,也是为了声张正义而生。《越狱》的成功就说明了这一点,也反映了观众不同的审美期待。中国观众长期接受正统教育,遵纪守法,不违反法律和道德也是中国社会赖以稳定和谐的基础。而《越狱》挑战了国家和法律,这一点不同于国产电视剧,这种审美差异造成了新的期待。
二、不同的叙事题材来源于文化的差异
1958年 6月15日,自我国的第一部电视剧《一口莱饼子》起,中华民族传统的伦理道德观念与故事的亲和力便深深地根植于电视剧中,强调天、地、人和谐的理想境界,成为中国特定民族审美心理积淀。所以,中国的电视剧中重视情理的统一,因此家庭伦理剧在中国的电视连续剧中占很大的比重。老百姓喜欢看别人的家长里短,喜怒哀乐,悲欢离合。
美国是一个强调自由、民主和博爱的社会,少受殖民统治,生性都热情奔放,电视剧内容丰富,少受政治的局限,面临激励的竞争,极度商业化,节目制作日趋精良,内容也非常的丰富。美国电视剧是美国社会的文化,政治和经济的重要表征,透过美国电视剧,我们可以直接地感受到美国社会的情感、想象、价值、身份乃至时代的现状和演变。
因此,在中国流行历史奇幻色彩的清宫戏、武侠片,反映现实社会生活题材的都市言情剧,家庭伦理剧,以及不断反映人们对现实不满等的反腐倡廉题材电视剧等,这些都和中国社会的文化、历史和现实背景紧密相关。而美国的西部片、医生律师剧、惊险动作剧等,代表的是美国社会主流价值观众的拓荒精神、冒险精神和专业精神。
三、叙事手法与结构的差异
中国电视剧遵循“开端-发展-高潮-结局”经典式叙事结构,并且结局大多为封闭式大团圆结局;美国电视剧喜欢开放式,循环式的结局。每一集的情节没有明确的结束,人物性格也不会随着剧情而变化,而是固执地一成不变,但却成为推动每一集故事发展的动力。
中国的家庭伦理剧占电视剧的很大一部分比重,反映社会现实,坚持善恶有终的原则,缓解观众心中的不平之气;美国观众里,中产阶级占很大比重,由于他们的收看电视时间不固定,所以追求完全的娱乐和释放压力的机会,更倾向于在较短的时间内接受到最多的信息量。中国电视剧的每集的结尾,每每都留有悬念,像中国古代的章回体小说,给观众一种强加的收看愿望:“欲知后事如何,请听下回分解。”叙事手法上:“不平衡-平衡-不平衡”。故事只有一个核心事件,每一集都围绕它展开;而美国电视剧则相反:“平衡-不平衡-平衡”,每个小故事本身有一个核心事件。《越狱》便是这样的电视剧,每集独立成篇,来发展人物和不同的事件,不影响观众的理解和社会构成有很大关系。
