1. 被操纵论。首先,该片立马会让人产生的联想是影片Dark City,我们可以把该片中的异形怪物联想成是Dark City里的外星人,他们把人类洗脑了,然后一遍又一遍地让主角表演不同的人生;
2. 阴谋论。这前后两种的猜测其实有重合的地方,在Dark City里外星人的目的是研究人类的记忆。当我们把该片与剧集Day Break比较的话(Day Break中的主角日复一日地过着同一天),就可以了解到Ian一遍遍地死去的原因,其实是那些异形怪物们想要得到一个真相,这在Day Break里是为了寻找某些阴谋的真相,而在该片中则是异形们想知道为什么Ian能杀死原本能永恒存在的他们的真相(当然,最后的真相是,很肤浅,都是因为爱);

4. 死后审判论。能与之相联系起来的影片是Salvage,一部很小众(制作的也是相当的粗糙)的cult影片,Salvage里的主角也是一遍遍地被残杀,而故事里最后所暗示的是,这不过是一个恶(罪)人死后被一遍遍地进行地狱审判;
5. 轮回论,极限论。该片与Donnie Darko,The Butterfly Effect也有相似的地方,主角的存在理由是为了去拯救其他东西。通俗一点的说法是,存在是为了去爱;

首先是这部片子的叙述角度。这部片子跟别的片子不一样,它并不是直接通过描写暴君来体现他的残忍的,而是以一个第三者的角度,以一个第三者的经历来反衬出将军阿敏的狠毒。有些人可能觉得这电影没啥大意思,讲政治讲得不清不楚,尤其了解点儿历史背景的,更是嫌故事避重就轻,放着暴君“阿敏将军”的惊人政治、惊人事件不表,却浓墨重彩地表现一个白人小伙子的非洲政治历险,更把三两段奇形怪状的婚外情用激情澎湃的煽情镜头反复揉搓,简直就是对历史真相的亵渎,对非洲人民的蔑视……这样的观点出现,当然不奇怪,值得尊重,但就我而言,英国人的故事手法,以人为本,以性为纲,以一个不小心趟了浑水的年轻人的灵魂跌宕起伏的起承转合为故事线索,正是这部电影的新意所在。这个题材当然还有无数种拍法,可以非常政治、非常血腥、非常冷静、非常纪实、非常意识形态……但世界电影的主流审美趋向,目前来讲其实还就是那两个字:通俗。一个通俗易懂,并且能完全表达出自己想表达的片子我认识就是最成功的。
其次这部片子将两人的性格刻画的十分深刻,不管这部片子是否确有其事,都是十分可信的,经过演员们的精心表演,更加的是如虎添翼。里面主人公青年医师盖瑞岗是一个十分冲动并且又十分天真的年轻人,从他毕业后的种种举动,比如下课后的放肆戏水,对自己的未来居然闭着眼睛转地球仪来决定,可见他的思想还是很冲动的,很冒失的,缺乏理智的思考,以至于最后导致他的盲目崇拜,而当他遇到阿敏的时候居然又被他那慈祥的外表和和蔼的语言所蒙蔽,又突出了他天真的性格,因此,到最后他的下场也是理所当然的。至于阿敏的性格就更不用说了,笑里藏刀,是一个城府很深的人,但当他讲述自己童年的时候,我们才发现,其实他又是个可怜的人,他所经历的我们并没有经历过的,如果我们跟他一样童年的遭遇的话,我想也许我们大部分人会选择堕落吧!而他确站在最高点,他的统治尽管残酷,但终究也是一种偏激的统治方法,虽然他的做法是很不人道的,但我仍然不得不钦佩他这样一个确实有领导能力的人,当他对盖瑞岗进行制裁的时候,他掉下了眼泪,可见,他也并不是一个麻木不仁的人。从他与每个人的交流上来看,他的城府尤为深刻,在他对盖瑞岗进行交流的时候,很快便能收买人心,让盖瑞岗毫无置疑的去效忠自己,尽管自己并不是他自己说的那么好,不过,这种能力还是很令人佩服的。
