里根在當一個演員的時候，他拍攝過空中的愛情，也拍攝過電影殺戮者，空中的愛情是一個愛情片，他在這個電影裡面扮演的並不是一個非常重要的角色，這個是里根總統第1次拍攝電影，所以他當的角色並不是非常重要，在裡面扮演的是一個播音員，不過這個播音員還是非常有特色的，導演要求這個播音員一定要是一個感情比較豐富的，同時又是語言上比較幽默的一個人。

而這個職位的工作經驗也為他後來走上總統道路奠定了一定的基礎，里根在成為總統之前也參加過一些總統候選人的競爭，他之前參加過兩次，不過全部都失敗了，後來終於在1980年的時候擊敗了對手，成為了美國新一屆的總統，里根在當總統的時候也做出了一些比較重要的成就，對於美國的經濟發展也是有一定幫助的。
