邁克逃到了西西里，在那裡他娶了美麗的阿波蘿妮亞為妻，過著田園詩般的生活。而此時，紐約各個黑手黨家族間的仇殺卻越來越激烈。桑尼也被康妮的丈夫卡洛出賣，被人打得千瘡百孔。「教父」傷愈復出，安排各家族間的和解。聽到噩耗的邁克也受到了襲擊。被收買的保鏢法布里奇奧在邁克的車上裝了炸彈。邁克雖倖免於難，卻痛失愛妻。邁克於1951年回到了紐約，並和前女友凱結了婚。
