當一切都是未知的，我們只能自我安慰似的假定我們所實際經歷過並參與改變的世界是迄今為止最好的一種結果，當然，如果你認為那是最糟的會覺得舒服些的話也悉聽尊便。有一種假定，也就是影片中所提供的這種假定，可能是我所能想到的最讓人沮喪的了一種了，即，無論更改歷史上的任何一個環節，都將導致一場無法預料到的災難，（影片只有兩處特例，即主人公為了得到監獄室友的配合，而回到過去，用釘子傷了自己的手，以及為了毀掉歷史上的炸彈，而拿起了刀子，這兩次過後，主人公都回到了既定的時空，不但沒有帶來重大的災難性改變，甚至還為此受益）。假釋你有能力看到一個沒有自己的世界的美好（正如影片最後三分鍾的鏡頭）換作是誰，都要感到深深的失落。
主人公的不幸是家族遺傳性的，但這種看似無休無止的不幸終因時代的進步，可以用影像記錄下嬰兒降生的過程而宣告結束，縱然這個生命沒有胎死腹中，料想在他長大成人之後，在得知自己的這種能力後，也只有被關進瘋人院或者自我了斷兩條路可走。或許不在這個塵世露面，是他能想到的最好的結局，但，即便這樣，仍要有一個母親為他的早早離去而痛苦不堪。
換句話說，如果一個人得到了可以扭轉歷史的能力，等待他的要麼是歷史的災難，要麼是自己的悲劇。而有兩種動力使擁有此種能力的人的命運成為必然，即，悔恨與貪婪——要麼是為自己的曾經做過的事情懊惱不已，要麼是就是對正置身其中的生活狀態不滿，渴望改變，正是這兩種情緒使我們不時產生要回到過去改變歷史的沖動，也正是這兩種情緒讓人區別於神。
電影中的主人公的所作所為，暗合一個宗教命題，既然我之存在只會為世人帶來不幸，那麼，我不入地獄誰入地獄？主人公手上的釘痕，隱隱暗示著殉道者式的苦惱。人人都可能在某一刻產生回到過去改變歷史的願望，這是人性導致的必然。然而這個願望永遠無法達成，所以人們才得以以現在的狀態與關系存在於世。人們終日忙碌，或幸福，或困苦，他們期待著新的生命的降臨，卻又對冥冥一無所知，他們只能自我安慰似的為一切擬定一個個答案，一代代恪守著，以期無窮無盡地平安地繁衍下去。
人之所以存在，只因人不是神。

While the story behind 「Joe Somebody」 has a moral that』s good for young kids to learn, there have been 100 movies just like this geared towards a family audience. 「Joe Somebody」 was intended to finally break the mold of this family-friendly story by being rated PG-13, but when Fox discovered they didn』t have a film that was kiddie-friendly for the holidays, they axed 「Joe Somebody」 for a PG-rating. Now, 「Joe Somebody」 is a cliched-filled family film with lines and situations so predictable, audiences will be left groaning rather than laughing. Sure the film has a couple funny moments– the scene where Allen and a bunch of 40-something co-workers do Karaoke to the Backstreet Boys』 「Larger Than Life」 should receive a few laughs from the 20 and under crowd– but it』s ending is so corny that nothing could prevent audiences from wishing they saw Harry Potter or Monsters, Inc. for the umpteenth time rather than sitting through 「Joe.」

The movie is directed by Chen Kaige, who made a more realistic and politically pointed epic, "Farewell My Concubine," a decade ago, but also the less realistic and less pointed "The Emperor and the Assassin" five years ago.

The world is ending in a matter of hours, yet justice and humanity don』t penetrate through the brain-shells of politicians. In order to save their own lives, the government officials keep the secret from the rest of human kind and also lets the man whose knowledge saves their lives die. This is the premise of 2012.
But if the viewer is a Tibetan or someone who is aware of the Tibetan culture and the sensitivities of Tibetan issue, one could feel that the justice and humanity are not occurred in the director』s thought either.
There is a scene long enough to mention that takes place in Tibet. In fact the last human beings die there and the new seed of the future human race starts at the neck of Mount Everest, 「The People』s Republic of China」 the movie calls it. Perhaps what no movie reviewer noticed or saw the importance of mentioning is that the prophetic fictitious story of the movie not only makes a statement that Tibet is completely a part of China, but also it totally misrepresents the core culture of Tibetan people. A Tibetan woman killing animals in Tibet is taboo, it never happened except ring the Cultural Revolution when some women were forced to do so. Women killing chickens in the Chinese market is an everyday event, but a Tibetan woman killing a CHICKEN reflects the director』s cultural ignorance and it makes the movie even more ridiculous.
And in real life ethically speaking, Mr. Emmerich failed to hire Tibetan actors who can speak their own language. All the actors who play Tibetan characters are Chinese very poorly pretending to be Tibetans. Their Tibetan is hundred times worse than Zhang Yi』s memorized English or Leonardo DiCaprio』s Swahili (well I can imagine!).
