Forrest Gump, A man with a low IQ has accomplished great things in his life and been present ring significant historic events - in each case, far exceeding what anyone imagined he could do. The film chronicles his accidental experiences with some of the most important people and events in America from the late 1950's through the 1970's including a meeting with Richard Nixon, fighting in Vietnam, etc. The problem is, he's too stupid to realize the significance of his actions.Yet, despite all the things he has attained, his one true love eludes him. "Forrest Gump" is the story of a man who rose above his challenges, and who proved that determination, courage, and love are more important than ability.
I feel that much of Gumps'appeal is his downright sense of doing the right thing regardless of the people and situations around him and we see that in this film. That being the case maybe we all wish we could be just a little more like that, the innate goodness and not the trade-offs we make as we go down lifes' highways.
The movie has it all too,drama,comedy and it challenges societal norms as well. Then there are the almost endless quotes from the movie that have slipped into everyday speech. They are too numerous to say at this point.One of the toppers for me in the movie is when Forrest is in a quandary about life and wondering as Lt.Dan said we all have a destiny and his Moms where we are all just floating around like a feather in the wind. Forrest's character puts into a term that I think is pretty to the point,I think it is a little bit of both. From my experiences in life it does sure seem to be that way. So if you have not seen the movie,see it soon you are in for a real treat. If you did not like it, give it a try again and hopefully you will see it for the great story it is!

Movie: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II
Good morning everyone. Today I am going to give my presentation on the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. I suppose many of you have heard of this famous movie franchise, or are quite familiar with, for in my case Harry Potter makes up a very big part of my childhood, and I am tremendously grateful for J.K. Rowling and the movie proction crew for finally making this amazing movie that pretty much sums up my past ten years.
The question I am going to probe into today is this: What techniques in cinematography were used in the movie and what differences were there between the original novel and its adaptation?
Being the final installment to this heptalogy, this movie basically puts an end to the fight between the dark force, of course, Lord Voldemort and his troops, and the many wizards and witches in the wizarding world. The Golden Trio, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger are searching for the Horcruxes created by Voldemort, which are actually his soul fragments, so to ultimately defeat him and retain peace in Hogwarts and the wizarding world. The most important members of this award-winning cast would be Daniel Radcliffe, playing the curious, brave Harry Potter, Rupert Grint as the sometimes funny, sometimes courageous Ronald Weasley and our beloved Emma Watson, portraying the self-worthy, intelligent Hermione Granger.
Coming onto the cinematography, compared to the first movie which was relatively more faithful to the original, adapted word for word and dialogue for dialogue, the second movie loses out much of the details. The director David Yates must have aimed for a much more action-packed type of movies, and evidently he inserted many exciting battle scenes that made the movie in overall really entertaining indeed. There were also some heartbreakingly emotional moments surrounding the themes of sacrifice, such as between James, Lily and Harry, protection, or the motherly love of Narcissa Malfoy and Molly Weasley, and of course, the serene theme of death, in the case of one of my favorite professors, Severus Snape. The music and the lightings were very strategically used to create the appropriate atmosphere for every scene in the movie. Whenever the villains step in, there would be dramatic, intense music and when they showed Hogwarts in ruins, there is softer and calmer music. There were also some scenes of silence when you might be expecting soft violin music that allows the audience to think about what has happened so far in the movie. The use of lighting is quite similar. When Voldemort appears, it usually gets darker and dimmer to give off discomfort, and to frighten the audience, but when it comes to Harry』s victory, the scenes immediately shine with brighter lighting. Compared to the first movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer』s Stone, there is an obvious advancement in technology which allowed better visual effects, or as they put it, CGI which stands for computer generated imagery, which helps create the detailed, realistic magical elements, such as the moving portraits, staircases, the transparent ghosts, if you remember Nearly Headless Nick, the one-eyed Dementors and even Voldemort』s missing nose! However, though I am not comparing this to Avatar or Transformers, the 3D effects were almost unnoticeable in this movie, so if anything, go watch the 2D version so you won』t get a headache while watching the film.
As I said before, there are many differences between the books and their adaptations. Many scenes were cut short to accommodate shorter screen time. In the book, Fred died from an explosion ring the battle, but in the movie, they had only shown his dead body in a stretcher, mourned by the remaining members of the Weasley family. There was Dumbledore』s back story in Harry』s limbo state that was cut short, so I never really got to see what happened with Ariana, which was actually Dumbledore』s greatest mistake. Snape』s interaction and love with Lily Potter was crammed into one minute of the movie and I only got to see some short scenes of it, though it was still a refreshing change to see emotion coming from the normally cold and composed Snape. Most controversial of all, Harry snapped and threw the Elder wand into the abyss, which in the book, he used to fix his Holly and Phoenix wand.
I should say, if you haven』t read the book and you don』t have an object to do comparison on, then you wouldn』t find the lack of some things disturbing as a reader would. Of course the movie as a whole was a great round up to everything, as it is the final film of this long movie series. I would say that although it is not entirely flawless, it was still a fun and enjoyable movie experience, and I would recommend you to have a look just the same. This movie is delightful from start to finish. Although some of the coincidences and chance meetings are highly improbable (both going to NYC? Both watching the same TV set at the same time?), they cannot spoil what is a genuinely touching and moving experience.
Instead of a the usual scenario where two people try desperately to find love, the two leads, Li Chiao (Maggie Cheung) and Li Xiao Jun (Leon Lai), try desperately to avoid it. Both Mainlanders, she has come to Hong Kong to make her fortune; he has come to earn enough money to marry his long-time fiancée back on the Mainland. Through a brief meeting in a McDonalds where Li Chiao works one of her several part-time jobs, and Xiao Jun has come to experience the unknown-in-his-hometown food, they become friends. They discover a shared love for the songs of Taiwanese singer Teresa Tang, which become the soundtrack to their relationship. Both are lonely, and graally they form a genuine friendship, then a not-so-casual intimate relationship. Their struggle to remain true to their original goal in coming to Hong Kong leads to an emotional crisis for both them and their partners. The struggle takes place over a ten year period, ring which they separate only to keep bumping into one another and reopening old wounds. The resolution of this struggle is sweet indeed.
The lead actors are both exceptional, particularly Leon Lai, who always seemed to be playing a variation on himself until this film. He is completely believable as the naive and trusting Xiao Jun, and Maggie Cheung is, as ever, radiant and affecting. The songs of Teresa Tang are used to great effect, one of which gives the film it's title (Tian mi mi, the title of the Chinese version, roughly translates as Sweet Like Honey).

Ed Malone, goes to his news editor, McArdle, to get a dangerous and
adventurous mission to impress the woman he loves. He is sent to interview
Professor Challenger, who has assaulted four or five other journalists, to
determine if his claims about his trip to South America are true. After
assaulting Malone, Challenger reveals his discovery of dinosaurs in South
America. After having been ridiculed for years, he invites Malone on a trip to
prove his story, along with Professor Summerlee, another scientist qualified to
examine any evidence, and Lord John Roxton, an adventurer who knows the Amazon
and several years previous to the action in the book helped end slavery by
rubber barons in South America. They reach the plateau with the aid of Indian
guides, who are superstitiously scared of the area. One of these Indians, Gomez,
is the brother of a man that Roxton killed the last time he was in South
America. When the expedition manages to get onto the plateau, Gomez destroys
their bridge, trapping them. Their "devoted negro" Zambo remains at the base,
but is unable to prevent the rest of the Indians from leaving.
Deciding to investigate the lost world, they are attacked by pterodactyls at
a swamp, and Roxton finds some blue clay to which he takes a great degree of
interest. After exploring the terrain and having a few misadventures in which
the expedition narrowly misses being killed by dinosaurs, Ce of the plateau who
the ape-men are constantly at war with. Roxton manages to escape and team up
with Malone to mount to a rescue. They arrive just in time to prevent the
executions of the Professors and several other humans, who take them to human
tribe. With their help, they defeat the ape-men, taking control of the whole
plateau.
After witnessing the power of their guns, the human tribe does not want the
expedition to leave, and tries to keep them there. However, the team finally
discovers a tunnel that leads to the outside, where they meet up with Zambo and
a large rescue party. Upon returning to England, they present their report,
which many dismiss like they did Challenger's original story. Having planned
ahead, Challenger shows them a live Pterodactyl as proof, which then escapes and
flies out into the ocean. . Challenger opens a private museum, Sumerlee retires
to categorize fossils, and Roxton plans to go back to the lost world. Malone
returns to his love, Gladys, only to find out that she married a clerk while he
was away. With nothing keeping him in London, he volunteers to be part of
Roxton's second trip.
