1、《九色鹿》動畫是根據敦煌壁畫《鹿王本生》故事改編的。1980年夏天，馮健男和九色鹿團隊花了兩個月時間由上海出發，沿著絲綢之路從東到西到了敦煌。對著豐富絢麗的壁畫，團隊人員臨摹了五大本速寫。

首先，作為一個公主童話的設定，可以說是戴著鐐銬來跳舞了，然而皮克斯的答卷已然算是非常難得的不俗的了，故事的結尾既沒有什麼和王子恩恩愛愛的幸福生活在了一起，就連一個真二八經的反派都沒有（片中的大黑熊魔度幾乎一直都處於故事的背景部分，真正的登場大概就只有三次，與其說是反派，其實。。。這個後面再說），片子里討論的也不是什麼奇聞異事，而是平淡真實存在的家庭關系（在這部片子里說的是母女關系，剛好與《尋找尼莫》中的父子關系形成對應）以及成長與命運。雖談不上什麼像《幽靈公主》說環保這樣宏大的命題，但是，就講述個人小格局的故事而言，《勇敢傳說》是做的很不錯的。
首先我們來分析片中的人物，她的父王是個典型的四肢發達頭腦簡單的人，這點上皮克斯給了一個很明確的定義進行塑造，然而不同於之前塑造動物或者非生物，塑造一個人類的父親角色，恐怕就不能與以前的誇張手法一樣了，很大程度上也就是因為這部電影所要塑造的一種真實感，造成了皮克斯迷們期待想像力的巨大失望。
小公主的母親，是這部電影中除梅莉達外位居其次的角色，整部電影的劇情也就有兩人之間的關系而展開。不得不說，皮克斯在塑造這位母親形象上可以是載入史冊的棒了，從之前的各種嚴厲與教條，到後來變成熊之後的驚恐與慌張，以及成為熊之後將自然野性與人類母性的矛盾的刻畫，點到為止而又入目三分，這無不體現了皮克斯強大的所故事能力依舊健在。

其實《勇敢傳說》一開始的命名為《熊與弓》，這就體現了」熊"在全篇的重要性。故事中一共有五頭熊，拋開插科打諢的三個小熊（梅莉達的三個弟弟變成的），剩下的就是」魔度「與梅莉達母親所變成的熊，其實，電影區別於其他皮克斯作品的地方就在這兒。
先說第一頭熊 」魔度「，魔度作為故事主要暗線 之一，在電影很多地方都有提到，但是卻極少現身，但是作為一個反面的例證來襯托梅莉達母親變成的熊，從故事中個斷斷續續的提及，我們知道，」魔度「這頭熊也是由於家庭矛盾產生而得不到解決的後果，因此這個熊就象徵著梅莉達家族一直以來逐漸凸顯出的的矛盾，正如這母女矛盾的暗線，只是點到為止的恰好出現幾次。

The film was proced by DreamWorks Animation's studio in Glendale, California and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film stars the voices of Jack Black as the panda, Po, along with Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Ian McShane, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, David Cross, Randall Duk Kim and Jackie Chan. Set in ancient China, the plot revolves around a bumbling panda who aspires to be a kung fu master. After a much feared warrior escapes from prison, Po is foretold to be the Dragon Warrior, much to the chagrin of the resident kung fu warriors.
