罗素的形象显然很入中国观众的法眼，地道的蒙古人种脸蛋，脖子上的布条虽然官方说法是探险协会、童子军之类的组织标记，但我看着就是一条红领巾。而罗素闯入卡尔老屋要求助人为乐的桥段又让我立马想起了童年往事：我小学时的少先队组织每年三月都会搞学雷锋、做好事的活动，于是，一到周末我们一群小朋友便山呼海啸聚在一起，然后满大院弄得鸡飞狗跳，末了还要对着出来呵斥的大人高喊一声：“我们做好事不留名，我们的名字叫红领巾！”——“借代”这种修辞手法就这样被我们自学成才。
罗素讨厌吗？当然讨厌，真要吹毛求疵，这个亚裔男孩肥胖无知，私闯民宅，还谎话连篇。不过卡尔也有很多缺点。当他一手打造的飞屋拔地而起时，吓倒了两个来接他去老人院的社工不说，一路上还擦坏了别人的车、撞榻了别家的房梁。
