This movie is absolutely stunning from the get go. I can't remember
ever being pulled into a film so completely and thoroughly, and I don't
think I've seen a more beautiful film. Its a pretty intense ninety

after another, and all of it is amazing to see. The plot is pretty
straight forward (see it, I won't talk about that), but its the way
they pull it off that makes it absolutely worth seeing. Thanks to some
incredible CGI, great direction, and solid acting, the movie is an
absolute must see. I'm normally not a fan of 3D movies (I hate wearing
the stupid glasses), but this movie uses it wonderfully and to great
effect. I would strongly recommend seeing it in an IMAX theatre if you
get the chance - if there was ever a movie made for 3d IMAX, this is
it.

嗯, 还是说电影吧.故事是少年励志片.Akeelah是个黑人小女孩,家境不好,上的是那种没有上进心的黑人区邻里学校,拼写测验别人都是四,五十分,她得一百分,不敢给人知道,怕被视为怪胎.不过还是被拽去参加拼读比赛,校长太需要正面的宣传了,不然他到处要不到钱.结果她很厉害,一下子冲进区际比赛.不过要想在州里赢,她需要一个教练.于是摩菲尔斯大叔就来了. Laurence Fishburne天生一副老师架子,这一类的角色演来毫不费力.在他的督导下,Akeelah最后获得了全国冠军,比赛过程中也结交到了朋友.
情节是挺老套的,但是这部片有几点让我深感兴趣.首先是学习方法.如何正确有效地学习,是我向来的兴趣,如今已经是职业课题.Akeelah天资过人,她对单词的记忆方法不拘一格,既有刻苦的死背功夫,也跟着摩大叔揣摩文句,探索词源,为了帮助记忆巩固,她甚至一边跳绳一边背单词,效果奇好.让我想起看过的一本关于学习方法的书,里面谈到有些人是运动型学习者,学的时候一定得动,有的人是视觉型,必须看过才记得住,而且对颜色鲜艳的内容印象深刻(我好象是这一类),还有的人是听觉型,非得听过才记得住,读书也喜欢读出声.很有意思.Akeelah显然是个运动型的孩子.她的学习方法非常灵活.
另一个看得津津有味的是拼读比赛的过程.对于电影来说,如何表现比赛拼读其实很难,因为没什么可以玩弄的画面,就是一群孩子对着麦克风拼单词.导演用尽一切手段让比赛显得有趣,应该说做得挺不错的.至少不闷,也一直吊着人的胃口,为Akeelah担心.当然对我个人来说,听那些超长超变态的单词觉得很过瘾 (我有受虐狂).
其他方面,就是典型的家庭题材,当Akeelah进入全国比赛的时候,全区的人都热烈参与起来,一切都变得非常美好.原本是竞争对手的上届亚军最后也化敌为友.那孩子是个华人,有个严厉再严厉的父亲,逼着他这一次一定要拿冠军.这孩子长大很可能不小心就是个大帅哥.
这片的好处是,虽然一切都是俗套,可是看起来并不俗,因为英文字的魅力,因为小演员Keke Palmer的出色表演,她把Akeelah的意志野心和恐惧都表达得很好,也因为编导娴熟地控制各桥段的度,适可而止. Akeelah and the bee是部温暖人心的,适合全家老少同看的中上之作,对孩子尤其有益.
这也是Starbucks Entertainment(星巴克娱乐)的第一部作品.看到它们的logo出现在银幕上,差点把嘴里的矿泉水吐出来.连星巴克都拍电影了!
