As a fan of the books and films, I was truly impressed with how The Half-Blood Prince turned out.
The nature of this Harry Potter is supposed to be dark and mysterious, which I admit it is in some places but it seems like they loaded this one with more humor than the rest. Sometimes subtle, other times just outright hilarious, I guarantee you will laugh. That's not to say there's no action though. There's plenty of that to go around. Not to mention the new romances that are a constant source of the humor.
The returning cast did wonderfully as well as the newcomers such as Jim Broadbent acting as Professor Slughorn. Broadbent really got into character and I believe he is exactly like Rowling describes in her books. Other newcomers Dave Legeno as Fenrir Greyback and Helen McCrory as Malfoy's Mom have smaller parts but portray their characters well for how much room they were given. One thing I have to say is I was surprised at Rupert Grint's level of acting in this one, I don't know if was just being held back or if he just improved that much but it's obvious he's going places.
The fans of the book series won't be disappointed either. They managed to stay very true to the book while keeping it a reasonable length and filling in all the information you need. But I daresay that if you've never read the books you may be surprised and saddened at the ending.

As I could remember I rarely shed tears when I was reading the Harry Potter books. But tears swelled in my eyes as I read the part when Snape broke into the Black』s house and found Lilly』s letter. I had hardly ever seen Snape shown weakness before. But he cried when he was reading the letter, and in the end he took the page bearing Lilly』s signature and the words 「Lots of Love, Lilly」 and tore a piece of the photo with Lilly laughing in it. All the time Snape was only able to watch over Lilly from faraway but he chose to love her till the end, and help her son to fight against the Dark Lord. It is natural Harry』s altitude towards Snape will change when he knew the truth. But I never expected Harry to name his son after Snape under the middle name of Severus (Full name Albus Severus Potter). But in my opinion ,the books of the series are better than movies ,as the latter have lost many great plots . And after all ,the books are the best-sellers after Bible. The author of Harry Potter who was a poor single mother is well-known around the world ,she used to write the stories o Harry Potter in small pieces of paper ,but now her personal value is higher than the queen of the Great Britain.
All in all ,it's a pity if you haven't read Harry Potter or watched the movies ,they are a great feast for your eyes .
