虽然《幻想曲》一映当年反应好坏参半，但时至六十年后的今日，《幻想曲》已成为迪斯尼动画库中最有历史和纪念价值的资产。而且为庆祝千禧年的来临，迪斯尼便决定将"沃尔特叔叔"亲生的《幻想曲》修辑，再重新配乐，替这个亲生子洗干净衣裳，漂漂亮亮的迎 接新世纪，同时亦加插新片段，证明与时代并进。不过，洗衣服的主意原来不及新衣好，《幻想曲》原本配合七段乐章的动画变成只剩一 段，改头换面的《幻想曲2000》仍源用沃尔特叔叔将动画与古典音乐 结合的思想，但破天荒以IMAX胶片制式制作，即以比传统35米厘大十倍的胶片制作，亦表现了动画科技进步。
