電影《那山那人那狗》，以最簡單的角度來看就是深山裡兩個男人和一條狗的故事，然而該片卻是歷年來少見，如此單純卻真情流露的動人佳片，99年贏得中國電影最高榮譽金雞獎兩項肯定，說明了該片的可貴和精采。
第十九屆中國電影金雞獎最佳故事片、最佳男主角獎 ，加拿大蒙特利爾電影節最受觀眾歡迎影片獎 ，上海影評人協會年度十大佳片獎，2001年日本每日電影獎最佳外語片獎第一名 。
